| Domestic Help Wanted is a big comedy about a New York power couple. He's running for Mayor and she's the editor of Working Mom magazine. One night when they both come home late from work (yet again), they cause Rosa, their South American nanny to miss her niece's wedding. Rosa locks herself and the baby in their Park Avenue apartment, and she won't come out or let them in. The couple's bungled attempt to resolve this situation sets off a nanny's strike that paralyzes Manhattan. This screenplay had a number of suitors, and Jeff went with David Brown, who produced Jaws, The Sting, The Verdict, The Player, A Few Good Men, Chocolat, Cocoon and many other fine movies. He's also the husband of Helen Gurley Brown. They came close a few times, but no green light for this one. One theory was that studio executives didn't want their nannies to see this film. This screenplay was formerly known as Maid of Honor. |
